Go Long or Go Home!

Dog Town LB Jamie O'BrienIf you have been to the beach lately, you have undoubtedly noticed some dude rolling out on a longboard skateboard.  It seems that the longboard is one of those timeless creations that will never go out of style and will always have a cult following.  These skateboards have one thing in mind and that is to cruise, which is why riding one of these long daddies is called “sidewalk surfing.”

The dimensions and shape of today’s longboards show a lot of creativity on behalf of skateboard designers.  The traditional shapes are still around, but a number of wild and more progressive shapes are gaining popularity as well.  The longer deck creates a wider wheelbase that makes the longboard significantly more stable and more predictable than its shorter counterpart.  Generally, the set ups on your average longboard include bigger and softer wheels that help you negotiate and carve out smooth turns.

As long as there are streets and sidewalks between you and the beach or wherever you are headed, the longboard is the perfect mode of transportation.  If you are considering picking up a longboard, Rincon Surf & Skate has a nice selection for you to choose from.  Click on the longboard link in our online Skate Shop and you will find a killer selection of decks from Dog Town that you can customize to match your own individual tastes.  Want a complete set up?  Simply click the complete skateboards link where you can choose a complete set up from Santa Cruise, Layback, Santa Monica Airlines, and more.  The longboard is here to stay, so don’t be afraid to jump on the bandwagon.
